Local Weavers
No visit to Harris would be complete without a visit to one of the many weavers on the Island. To be classed as Harris Tweed, the cloth must be: “Handwoven by the islanders at their homes in the Outer Hebrides, finished in the Outer Hebrides, and made from pure virgin wool dyed and spun in the Outer Hebrides.”
A weaver worth visiting if you are interested in buying cloth, is Rebecca Hutton, one of the new generation of weavers keeping the tradition alive.

Outdoor Activities
Harris is becoming more popular for adventurous activities such as kayaking, dingy sailing, canoeing, surfing, windkarting, rock climbing, mountain biking and gorge scrambling. The Scaladale Centre, an outdoor adventure residential centre in North Harris offers a range of activites each September, the North Harris Trust runs a week-long celebration of the mountains of Harris.
Harris Golf Club
A great wee course in truly spectacular surroundings. Nick Faldo has played the course, and the signed fiver he left in the honesty box has been framed by the club and is competed for each year. We keep a half set of clubs at the house for the use of the guests.
ART GALLERIES
As you would expect, Harris is a magnet for artists and photographers and there are several good art galleries on the island and on Lewis too. On south Harris, the following are all worth visiting:
Boat trips
